The next few years will take me a long way from home before ultimately bringing me back.
In October 2026, I will swim the 20 Bridges course around Manhattan. Catalina Channel follows in 2027, which together with my successful English Channel crossing would complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.
Port to Pub in March 2027 would complete the Australian Triple Crown, followed by the Cook Strait in 2028.
The final swim will be in Australian waters. It will also be the longest and least predictable of them all, following a stretch of coastline my grandfather once set out to swim.
I am not ready to announce it publicly. It is the reason for everything that comes before it, and I would rather tell that story properly than tell it early.
What these swims require
The swimming is the cheapest part.
A recognised international crossing requires a registered pilot and boat, an independent observer, an experienced crew and formal ratification. It also involves flights, accommodation and the support of people who take time away from their own lives to spend up to 12 hours, or longer, beside me on the water. Before reaching the start line, there are years of coaching, physiotherapy, pool access and preparation.
A single major international swim can cost approximately $30,000. I fund a substantial share myself, but a partnership closes the gap and allows decisions about each swim to be based on preparation and conditions rather than cost.
I am looking to work with a small number of organisations that share a connection with endurance, family, community and the positive role of sport. A partnership could include original content and storytelling, speaking and event opportunities, community engagement, or other activity developed around our shared objectives.
A partner who joins now becomes part of the complete story: five major swims over several years, leading to an Australian challenge that has been waiting more than 50 years. By the time that final swim is announced, the story behind it will already have been built.
I would like to build it with partners who believe in what sits behind these swims and want to be there from the beginning.
